the what
The “what” is the issues brought to the table such as management or leadership skills, change management, team-building, work-life balance, personal relationships. In all areas, interpersonal communication is paramount.
Whatever your issues, coaching is concerned with setting goals. You have no doubt heard of SMART goals but how about being SMARTER by asking the following questions:
1 |
Specific |
What is it that you specifically want to do ? |
2 |
Measurable |
How will you know when you have done it ? |
3 |
Achieveable |
Is is something that it possible ? |
4 |
Realistic |
Do you have the resources to do it ? |
5 |
Time-bound |
By when will you have done it ? |
6 |
Extending |
How does it stretch you ? |
7 |
Rewarding |
How will it benefit you ? |
Coaching is outcome-oriented. Coaching is based on the belief that the client can find his own solutions and that, by doing so, has a better chance of implementing them than if they are suggested by a consultant. Coaching cannot replace psychotherapy.
